The Role
We are looking for a Deputy Head Teacher to work with the Governors and Headteacher, strengthening the leadership and management team at Stillness Infant School.
Stillness Infant School is a large infant school situated in Honor Oak, a busy residential area of SE London within the Borough of Lewisham. The school is set on a large site which is shared with Stillness Junior School. We are largely housed in one building on the ground floor, with office spaces upstairs. We also have a separate small building used for meetings, breakfast club, parent workshops, and after school activities.
There is a playground space for all children as well as separate outdoor learning spaces for pupils in Nursery and Reception. In addition, we have access to Kings Sports Ground, a fabulous resource right next to our school.

What we are looking for
We wish to appoint a leader who has a proven record of excellent classroom practice in EYFS /KS1, and who has demonstrated excellent leadership skills across the school. We are looking for someone who will promote our school values and has the best interests of the children at the heart of all decision making. The Deputy Head Teacher will work with the Governors, Head teacher and wider Leadership team to ensure that the vision for Stillness Infant school is clearly articulated, understood and acted on effectively by all.
Key responsibilities:
- Contribute to the school’s self-evaluation process, including the strategic use of external and internal performance data, and the development of the School Improvement Plan
- Promote excellent behaviour across the school
- Lead teaching and learning, with particular strengths in EYFS and KS1
- Lead on the future development of the teaching of core subjects, based on current research
- Support the continued development of middle leaders to secure improvement across our school
- Uphold our school values, and promote our significant awards and achievements across our local community
